The Japanese word Matcha (抹茶) translated means something like "ground tea". And that already reveals a lot about its production. The powder is obtained from the leaf tips of the tea bush. These are sorted by hand, dried and then in granite stone mills.ground into a fine powder.

WHY IS MATCHA SO EXPENSIVE?

Because the production is extremely time-consuming, the green elixir is one of the most exquisite teas of the world. High-quality Matcha teas (such as the Japanese Tencha variety) therefore have their price.

TRADITIONAL TEA FROM JAPAN

Matcha tea has been used in Asia for centuries for its natural healing powers  valued and should ensure a long life. In addition, as early as the 12th century, Buddhist monks referred to the stimulating effect of the tea leaves in order to be able to meditate longer.

Matcha tea is still the heart of the Japanese tea ceremony. In this ritual, the drink is prepared according to precise rules and as a kind of mindfulness ritual.
